Berthon was pleased to host the first New Forest Business Expo at our shipyard on 3rd June 2015, with over 70 local business showcasing what Lymington and the New Forest has to offer in products, trades and services to over 500 visitors.
The event was promoted by New Forest Business Partnership (NFBP) whose aim is to connect local businesses and Brand New Forest (BNF) the campaign to back the local economy. Lymington was chosen as the location for the event as the historic Georgian town is the Brand New Forest’s town of the year 2015.
Businesses from all sectors in the New Forest exhibited and it was a unique opportunity for local businesses to celebrate and connect with each other.
Visitors and Exhibitors were able to join Berthon Yard Manager, Keith Longman for a tour of our facilities, allowing us to showcase the full extent of our operation, giving access inside the big blue sheds and to the array of vessels that we are working on, then on to our yacht paint facility and the various workshops.
There was a pre-event networking breakfast at our onsite restaurant, where lots of exhibitors popped in after they had set up their stands before the event opened. From 10am everyone was ready to welcome the constant flow of people. Visitors were in and out of all the marquees, networking and finding out more about each other and how they could work together in the future.
A massive amount of networking occurred with exhibitors saying they met a lot of potential new customers and that the Expo enabled them to show what they could offer to other business visitors.
Matthew Lawson, chairman of New Forest Business Partnership said “The Expo exceeded all our expectations and proved that there is a demand on the part of local business to connect and showcase locally”.
Chris Tabb, Brand New Forest award winner at last year’s NFBP New Forest Brilliance in Business awards commented “Great first event, really pleased to have been part of this excellent opportunity to meet like-minded business people. Look forward to it being held annually as the New Forest really needs this type of exhibition”.
The sun shines on the righteous and this was certainly the case for the very first New Forest Business Expo after the storms of Monday/Tuesday that week.
