An annual publication from Berthon, it is our view of the Yacht Market internationally. It is available to read, see and touch now, either electronically or in hard copy.
We review 2013 in terms of our operation in the UK, France and the USA and also give you our forecast for what we think will happen this year. We also examine some issues that we hope you will find of interest and in this we are assisted by some contributors who have helped us with these articles.
The Berthon Cool Board is an annual feature and we look at what we thought was seriously cool. The summer of 2013 was far from cool – which was yet cooler and have featured stuff from the B-Class record to the America’s Cup.
We have noticed a disconnect between brokerage and new yacht pricing and we write about how this is panning out.
One of the noticeable features of the market has been the increasing interest in multihulls – or yachts with a spare hull – Bill Bullimore the Multihull man writes for us.
As the official brokers to World Cruising we support the ARC. The Rally circuit has been increasing and is offering yachtsmen more opportunities to sail further and do more in the company of like minded sailors and we look at this trend.
MCA coding is a complicated subject and we asked John Fearnley from Mecal who is managing the MCA coding of the new FPB 78 in New Zealand for whom we are the European agents, to write on this subject
Our friend Steve Dashew has also helped us to explode the myth that a sailing yacht is always cheaper to run than a motor yacht.
The new Recreational Craft Directive was published on the 28th December 2013 and will become law on the 18th January 2016. Alastair Reay from HPi Verification Services gives us the low down on this new directive in this year’s report
We also talk about custom yacht building and how you need to have a care for your new yacht’s next owner and the importance of the location of your yacht if you want to effect a sale.
We hope that you will enjoy this year’s Review, for your soft copy visit –
