We are delighted to announce that ALISARA is now offered for sale and can be viewed at our Lymington HQ.
Commissioned by a most experienced yachtsman, for long distance sailing at pace, she is very much a product of Lymington, having been designed by Rob Humphreys and built by Seyco Marine (Steve Etheridge).
She has a rotating mast from Formula Spars, high-tech construction, a simple and well-designed interior, water ballast, a lifting keel and she can also dry out.
She can be sailed short-handed and her solid spray dodger is quite simply epic. One wonders why they’re not seen on other yachts.
After her last season with her current owner, she arrived at Berthon for a pit-stop. This included a repaint in very smart flag blue and an overhaul of her keel. See below for the griff –
Upon arrival at Berthon, ALISARA was put in the capable hands of our Project Manager James Hollingsworth; as with all yachts coming ashore for sale it’s imperative that they go through the decommissioning procedure. ALISARA was of course no different. She had her engine serviced and winterised, her plumbing systems drained down and fuel tanks topped up.
Find out more about the Berthon Yacht Decommission process.
Once the service work was complete her mast was un-stepped using our yard wall crane, she was lifted ashore and had her lifting keel removed allowing easier access for our paint team. Her mast had a few remedial jobs undertaken and her keel had a new coat of Coppercoat Antifoul applied; while this was happening the paint team started their magic.
The secret to a successful coating operation…. Preparation. Preparation. Preparation!!!
After a thorough detergent wash the sanding began to achieve a solid foundation for our undercoat.
Once again cleanliness was of the essence and a wash and degrease, plus tack rag times two were undertaken before proceeding to the flag blue topcoat.
With a flick of the wrist, a mist coat and two full coats later, the topsides were transformed. Only a line or two to go and she would be ready for the sales gantry.
Resting her for a day with a blanket of heat, she was ready for taping out the upper and boot top style lines. The resulting, and classic contrast of snow white against the flag blue completes the look and ALISARA is ready to tempt a new yachtsman.
ALISARA is being offered for sale at £225,000 which is a fraction of her replacement cost and she offers the opportunity to own a very special, good looking and practical sailing yacht who will guarantee rewarding sailing and the mandatory ear to ear grin from her helm.
A few points that we particularly like about ALISARA –
Her aerodynamic (spreader-less) carbon mast…
Her deck layout…
Her deep and protected cockpit…
Her slippery hull shape and ability to dry out…
Her bright and airy interior…
Great cabins forward and aft…
