Announcing the FPB 78’ from Dashew Offshore, Ltd. for build at Circa, New Zealand.
She comes with all the iconic qualities of her sisters and with unmistakable FPB DNA. She looks the business with her Great Room, Matrix deck and hugely comfortable accommodation for her owners and 4 guests. She also offers crew accommodation, and a large workshop aft of the stand up engine room.
At under 24 metres (even on a hot day) she has a range of 8,100 nautical miles at 10 knots, with UK to East Coast of North America range at 12 knots. Offering heavy weather capability, including recovery from capsize, she is the ultimate explorer yacht. 1.35meters (4’ 5”) draft and the ability to dry out on tidal flats, opens up vast new areas to exploration.
The FPB 78 combines the proven unmatched sea going characteristics of the FPB 64s (7 of which are now crossing oceans), the FPB 83 (with more than 60,000 miles under her keel), and an interior layout that incorporates the best of the acclaimed FPB 97.
FPB 78s are built to MCA Category Zero as standard, with 12mm bottom plating, 16mm in the turn of the bilge, and a 24mm grounding flat through a centreline section of the hull. Hull framing and plating are beyond what would normally be considered ice class.
The FPB 78 comes with a specially design double bottom 4.7m dinghy, that includes a fixed shade awning and removable protection for the crew in wet or cold weather. It comes equipped with twin outboards, and is the ultimate dinghy for exploring away from the mother ship.
Planning for the first 2 hulls of this iconic yacht is already underway with construction of Hull #1 scheduled to begin in the 4th quarter of 2013.
