OFFLINE is #2 of this superb blue water cruising sisterhood from Discovery. A bigger sister ship to their benchmark 55 footer, she offers the deck saloon with interior watch keeping, protected cockpit and the same easily handled rig with self-tacking jib for which Discovery has become famous. As you will see from the specification, OFFLINE is generous equipped for serious mile munching and is ready for many adventures. She comes with a smart dark blue livery and light crown oak interior finishing. Internally the Discovery 58 is very well conceived with vertical hull windows in the owners’ cabin and a lot of attention has been placed in ensuring that she is quiet below when machinery is running. She is now only available as her owners’ plans have changed, making this very new and special cruising yacht available to new owners for trouble free delivery and sailing.
We were attracted to the Discovery 58’ because she had a really nice design, and we could see that she would be fast and safe for long distance passages. She is a great sailing yacht. Having visited the yard, it was obvious that the Ron Holland design worked well, and that the build quality was very high. Compared with other yards and options that we looked at we felt that the Discovery 58’ offered more value.
Since we have taken delivery of the OFFLINE we have cruised in the Baltic Sea up to St Petersburg. We visited all the countries around the Baltic – Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Poland, Estonia and Finland. OFFLINE has also taken us from Kiel to Hamburg, Amsterdam, Brest and then to La Coruna. From there we sailed to Portimao, Gibraltar and then to Morocco and Rome.
Sadly, my wife is now recovering from a serious accident which means that we won’t have the opportunity to use OFFLINE as we had hoped. We have therefore decided to sell her and return to yachting when she is fully recovered – maybe in 5 years’ time. OFFLINE is a super yacht and will serve her new owners well.
