Every so often we are invited to help with something truly special, and HUSH is exactly that.
She was the concept of a precise yachtsman, who sought the finest shipwrights of the day (Royal Huisman of The Netherlands) to build him the ideal long-range, cruising motor-yacht to the draughts of the most able design house (C. Raymond Hunt Associates, USA). Scrupulous attention was paid to the attenuation of vibration and noise, with the use of Nomex coring for weight reduction, and floating of interior fittings and machinery to ensure maximum efficiency in a quiet environment. In terms of sea-keeping, she has never given her current Owner a moment’s worry at sea, and her semi-displacement hull uses a deep-vee profile, combined with a grounding skeg, to ensure best weather ability and best protection for her running gear.
Her handsome lines cocoon a calm, timeless and superbly-crafted interior. The wheelhouse and saloon are amply lit by large glazed windows, and her joinery is elegantly rounded, tactile and accomplished in its execution. The helmsman’s console is concisely laid-out in a simple, effective manner, with three big forward screens giving an excellent view over her bows, and there are steadying handholds and decent fiddles throughout. The lounge and dining area just aft of the helm is refined and displays more of Huisman’s proficiency in construction, with more richly-varnished timber, soft fabrics and seamanlike flourishes – just feel the profiles of the companionway stairs and enjoy the soft marking of the selected teak side panels – this is quality that is both incredibly rare and very pleasing.
The impression of best practice continues through the galley area (linear, clean, light, and space-efficient) to the accommodation. The joinery is first-class in finish, the fittings are appropriate and the effect is one of simple elegance, with a superb full-beam aft Stateroom, and two well-appointed guest suites forward. Of course, all this is nought without a well-engineered beating heart, and so to the machinery space.
A pair of gold-painted MTU’s sit flat on a pair of massive engine beds, with particular attention being paid to the filtration of lubricants, raw water and correct ventilation of the environment. The checker-plate tread-plating, gloss overhead panels and neat pipe and cable runs deliver a very precise and slick feel, with all to hand and accessible.
So, she is a one-off. She is custom. She is one-of-a-kind. If you think she could suit, then please do get in touch. You may have guessed, but we think she is rather super.
“I first met Hush 9 years when she was owned by a good friend of mine Ed Dubois, when Ed brought her to the finish of the Round Britain Power Boat in Portsmouth that a mutual friend of ours was competing in. She immediately took my breath away, as I had never seen such a more stunning, purposeful and elegant Motor Yacht. She generated such a statement and has continued to do so wherever she goes. Ed offered me the rare opportunity to acquire Hush the following year and I was so thrilled to be her new Owner and have owned her with so much pride ever since. She is the only example of her kind to be built by Royal Huisman, who have to be one of the finest Yacht Builders in the world. I am only her third owner and never has a penny been spared on her maintenance. She is truly a tough big little Ship and I have never had a moment of worry whilst in some big sea’s with her, and always knowing she’ll get us home safely.
She is dateless in every sense of the word and I wish her next owner the same pride and enjoyment as I have been lucky enough to have experienced over the last 8 years…….”
