Broker’s Comments

A well found yacht having recently benefited from a comprehensive refit re-engined, re-wired, re-plumbed and new paint to mention just a few of the upgrades. Coded to cat 4 she is very useful boat for either charter or private use. Sweet lines and sporting stars and stripes topsides she looks the business.

Owner’s Comments

KLAUS STORTEBEKER (KS) is a McCurdy and Rhodes Rebel class aft cockpit cutter rigged ketch, built by Nordmeer in the Virgin Islands. Constructed in 1978, of aluminium to Lloyds specification and well above spec scantling-wise, with weekly surveyor’s inspections during construction. We have most of her original building plans and specs.

KS chartered for a number of years before exploring the world, including 2 full circumnavigations. Since then she has remained in private ownership. She is very well balanced, a joy to sail and due to a 44% ballast ratio, extremely stiff. Her strength, character and seaworthiness make her a great yacht for extended cruising or adventure charter and she provides a comfortable, secure environment for fully crewed and shorthanded sailing. Re-engined, wired, plumbed and with serious upgrades to accommodation and facilities in 2015/16, she has been set-up for comfortable adventure charter. Coded to MCA Category 2 for commercial use for up to 12 passengers including skipper.

On Deck:
A deep and secure aft-cockpit make her ideal for safe passages and comfortable cruising and there’s plenty of sunbathing space on the large open deck. The versatile ketch rig means she can be comfortably sailed short-handed but is equally well-suited to being pushed hard by a larger crew and is an exciting boat to sail for experienced hands and novices alike. She is rigged with Furling headsails and slab-reef mizzen and main sail. Decks are aluminium, finished with Interdeck grey.

Offering accommodation for a maximum of 12 people, she is configured with 2 double and 2 twin guest cabins – all en suite – and separate crew accommodation. Pipe bunks in the double cabins can be used to create twins or triples (great for larger groups or those with young children). The saloon and galley provide a great social area, with seating for 8 comfortably at the table and a meticulously appointed galley, perfect for preparing high quality meals.
