NORDLYS combines the legendary Sparkman & Stephens hull lines with the amazing build quality of Nautor Swan. A great yacht to escape the real world, with impeccable sea manners and performance. She also benefits from no teak on the side decks, new engine 5 years ago and new standing rigging 2 years ago. With all these key items being done and her extensive bluewater inventory there is little left to add…
On her return from her circumnavigation with her previous owners NORDLYS was refitted in the UK in 2009/10. The work included a full respray of the topsides and side decks in Awlgrip. The underwater sections were slurry blasted and additional coats of epoxy added. The teak in the cockpit was renewed. During removal of the old teak from the coachroof and foredeck the fittings were removed, rebedded and replaced. The access to the aft cabin was modified, greatly improving accessibility for cruising.
In the last 5 seasons NORDLYS has cruised to Spitzbergen, Norway, The Hebrides, Portugal, West Greenland, St Petersburg, Helsinki and Stockholm. Thanks to our policy of keeping engine, rigging and key equipment updated and maintained, we have had outstanding reliability so that NORDLYS has always given a comfortable ride, been popular with crew, and inspired confidence in any conditions encountered. Despite the slightly out of date layout she is easily handled and has recently made single-handed passages. During the winter periods she has regularly spent up to 8 months ashore which will doubtless have helped preserve the low moisture content of the hull seen at the last survey.
