Berthon Property Manager

Experience of managing investment (internal and external construction projects) and servicing & maintenance contracts, initial brief taking, design (using CAD), costing, procurement, project planning, installation, supervision and sign off.

The successful applicant must also have experience of working on Marine specific projects ideally within a Marina/Boatyard environment.

Typical projects include, but are not limited to major and minor infrastructure replacements and repair, marine specific project involving MMO applications, capital long-term investment and future planning. Knowledge of Planning Applications, Building Regulations, DDA, HSE & COSHH requirements are essential.

Personal Skills:

  • Qualification in engineering and or design,
  • Computer literate,
  • Auto Cad essential,
  • Ability to manage internal and external subcontractors,
  • Working to tight deadlines within agreed budgets,
  • Ability to work on multiple projects,
  • Including maintenance & servicing all site equipment,
  • Regular sub-contractor reviews,
  • Constant re-assessment of priorities with Directors (IE. Boatyard main functions must continue uninterrupted).

Berthon has a “can do attitude” that often requires tailored solutions with contractors rather than compromise, designed in-house.

Role includes managing all maintenance on site, conforming to legal standards including but not limited to the following:

  1. The fabric of all buildings (including doors, roofing and roof vents etc), offices, workshops and tenanted properties,
  2. Piers, pontoons and sea walls,
  3. General boat yard hard standings, carpark and boat gantries, drains,
  4. Site security; CCTV, access control, security lighting and barrier controls,
  5. All Power, Water and Gas services for the above, monitoring and recording readings for future analysis and checking usage,
  6. Machinery (cranes and boatlifting/boat moving equipment etc),
  7. Plant and equipment (inc boilers, compressors, and radiant heaters),
  8. Spray facility (inc 4 x booths),
  9. Periodic Electrical testing
    1. buildings, pontoons and outdoor areas,
    2. fire alarms and detection systems,
    3. air conditioning, air handling,
    4. Local exhaust ventilation (LEV).
  10. Procurement and analysis of replacement general plant and equipment, analysis of options, whole life costs etc.
  11. Responsibility for waste disposal & ensuring compliance with our waste management procedures, ensuring Berthon recycles waste efficiently.
  12. Documentation and record keeping in line with ISO9001:2015, ISO14001:2015, ISO45001:2018 requirements.

People Skills

  • Experience in reporting at Director Level while maintaining a working relationship with all internal trades regardless of position within the company.
  • Experience communicating with Architects and Consultants as required on specific projects.
  • An attitude that ensures even the smallest of tasks completed with the same high degree of care and professionalism (an eye for detail) irrespective of the size or complexity of the project.

In a nutshell, Berthon Property Manager is responsible for project and maintenance work across the entire site with the exception of our clients’ boats.

Boatmover

Berthon has an immediate position available for a boatmover to join our small and friendly team in a busy boatyard, dealing with internal and external customers.

Knowledge and skills

Ideally the successful candidate will already be experienced in a boat moving/ marina operator role with a proven track record of using various boat moving equipment, launches and plant although someone with strong boat handling skills and an interest into moving into this role would definitely be considered.

A pro-active practical approach and can do attitude is essential to this fast moving role as well as the ability to undertake various challenging manual handling activities both ashore and on the water in a safe and effective manner.  You will be a team player who is fully conversant with the Health & Safety requirements of LOLER.

Managing Broker required by Berthon in France

Role:

Managing all aspects of the office at Berthon France with the goal of creating a stable business with solid sales of new Windy Boats, new Pearl Motor Yachts and an effective brokerage operation. The Berthon Sales Group is a collegiate business which adopts a holistic approach to the yachting business; accordingly, team playing, not just in the French office, but with all Berthon’s international sales offices.

Duties:

  • Working with the in-place team to ensure the smooth running of the office including management responsibility for current book-keeper and statutory accounting plus other aspects related to the running of an SL in France.
  • Managing the Pearl Motor yachts dealership including marketing, sales and development of the brand in the territory and developing a good relationship with the builder.
  • Working with the current team on the Windy Boats dealership and further developing this aspect of the business including marketing, sales and interface with the builders.
  • Building the brokerage offering for Berthon France to develop this beyond the sales of second hand Windys and some other motor yachts to a rounded brokerage offering, working with the other offices to support them in the territory and growing staff putting in place the needed staffing to assist with this.
  • Focusing on the office environment and ensuring that this reflects the business mission of Berthon France.
  • Networking in the South of France and internationally to acquire the needed contacts to be successful in the brokerage and new yacht sales environment.
  • Building a team of contractors and contacts to focus on the destination proposition of Berthon France, encompassing service, berths, guardiennage, concierge services and other infrastructure that will build on the proposition of buying a new or a second hand yacht from Berthon France.
  • Building the profile of Berthon France via marketing, boat shows, advertising and original ideas, mindful of budget verses revenue. In this you will be assisted by marketing resource available from the UK.
  • Developing a 5 year plan for the development of the business based on its 3 revenue streams – Windy, Pearl and brokerage sales.
