Epicor ERP Manager

We are seeking an experienced and confident ERP Manager to extend the use of our Epicor ERP10 system across our four new business arms and to provide assistance alongside the IT Manager and business stakeholders to ensure Epicor is successfully used productively throughout the group.

This is an ideal opportunity for an individual who is looking for the step up to become the Epicor specialist and champion within a successful business.

The role will be hands on so you must have experience of working in both a technical and functional capacity. You will initially be working with Version 10.1.600, with a planned upgrade to 10.2.xxx this year.

Skills and Responsibilities

  • Experienced in implementing Epicor 10
  • Managing the in-house ERP system Epicor
  • Prince2 Certified Practitioner would be beneficial but not essential
  • Experienced with modules such as CRM, Information Worker, Project & Production Management, supply chain, product management, finance and BOM

Senior Dockmaster

The role of a Senior Dockmaster is to work as and direct a team to provide an efficient, effective, friendly and safe service to all clients of Berthon and Lymington Marina, to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of Lymington Marina, and to act as ‘Duty Lead’ when required.

  • To ensure the smooth day to day running of Lymington Marina operations;

Main Duties and responsibilities:

  • Taking & recording bookings via E-harbours via phone, email and VHF radio to maximise income for Berthon Lymington Marina;
  • Planning and allocation of daily, weekly, monthly LTC berths via E-harbours;
  • Daily marina (& surrounding boatyard) audits to be fully completed on a twice daily basis (winter) and 3 times (summer) before set times;
  • Complete daily, weekly and monthly checks, document and report findings in writing to Marina Manager
  • During regular patrols ensure owners/ crew observe H&S/ COSHH requirements and are not using company equipment. Politely challenge unsafe behaviour or activity
  • Invoicing & collecting a range of payments, including electricity, overnight visitors and long term casuals (including monthly and relevant departing yacht invoicing such as work in progress);
  • Opening and End of day procedures (including cashing up) handover to / from night security;
  • Holding and issuing keys, adhering to company policy and sign in procedure;
  • Ensuring the safety of clients, staff and visitors on the marina, especially during periods of inclement weather;
  • Conduct marina and boat yard tours to prospective berth holders, clients and rallies etc.;
  • Operation of CCTV and WiFi systems ensuring all is kept up to date and fully working. Issuing berth holder with appropriate WiFi details;
  • Retailing fuel, gas & oil using correct and safe procedures, adhering to all HSE regulations and company policies;
  • Ensure that fuel stock is correctly recorded via excel and liaise with Marina Manager regarding fuel stock and in advance of ordering;
  • Issuing and control of BBC stock to company staff and recording via EPICOR.
  • Carry out checks to ensure all facilities remain in serviceable condition e.g. washrooms, laundry and car park barriers.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, safe and secure working & client environment
  • Train new recruits including seasonal staff
  • Carry out all functions required for the smooth running of the department including manual tasks and filling in as Dockmaster when required.

IT Manager

This is a hands-on role in a successful and dynamic family-run business. Reporting to the Group owners/directors, your role will be crucial to business continuity and success. You will be working with an IT Support Assistant, our ERP System Manager, and an external IT support service provider.

You will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of Berthon’s computer and communications infrastructure and systems, ensuring that they continue to support and enable secure and efficient business operations, and overseeing the incorporation of new business areas and branch offices into the system landscape.

We are also available for yacht construction or fit-out projects at the highest level. At our recently refurbished Lymington boatyard facilities, the dedication to providing the best service is key to the yard’s success. Berthon’s apprenticeship scheme has been established for more than 100 years, and many of our craftsmen have been with us throughout their working life.

The Selection Process

The first stage of the selection process is to complete an Application form.

In order to help your application we recommend you:

  • Gather evidence of your interest in the Marine industry.
  • Gather evidence of any relevant experience you have already gained in your chosen discipline.
  • Gain work experience in the trade you want to apply for either here at Berthon or in another manufacturing environment.
  • Research Berthon and the marine industry and consider why you want an Apprenticeship with Berthon.
  • Stand out from the crowd – the more evidence you can gather the stronger your application will become, this is your opportunity to sell your attributes.

If selected, you will attend an assessment, trade test and interview at our training provider Brockenhurst College. Successful applicants at this stage will then be invited to Berthon for a formal interview and tour of the facilities.

If you are applying to be a Marine Engineer you MUST have:

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at A*- C (9-5)  to include Maths at Grade B (6) or above and English plus Resistant Materials or relevant science subject
  • A strong aptitude for problem-solving and attention to detail
  • Good communication skills

  • City & Guilds Level 2 & 3 in Marine Engineering
  • PEO Level 2
  • RYA Powerboat Level 2

Marine Electrician

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cutting GRP surfaces using power tools and applicable PPE
  • Polishing GRP & painted surfaces with appropriate products
  • Washing down various size sailing yachts and motorboats within the marina
  • Full detailed valeting using appropriate products to create a professional finish (COSHH)
  • Other associated tasks as needed

The role also involves helping to keep our newly refurbished washroom facilities clean and maintaining the ship yard works area
