Berthon are proud to announce that Simon Booth has joined Berthon RIB Solutions as Production Manager.
Simon’s first steps in the maritime industry were working on trawlers in Grimsby at the age of 14. He found he truly loved the marine environment and decided to forge a career within the sector.
Coming from a family peppered with Captains, he was encouraged to consider becoming a navigation officer and subsequently joined a deck cadetship with Degas Marine. However, he discovered that he whilst he was in the right environment, he was in fact in the wrong job – and that he wanted to work in the engineering department.
Unable to change his path, he completed his navigation officer’s qualification before leaving the merchant navy and returning to the UK to become an engineer. He consequently joined the Royal Navy as an Engineering Artificer in 1987.
After 12 years with the Royal Navy, Simon moved into the commercial maritime sector, starting at Ocean Yacht Systems Ltd and spending the next ten years working with Trimline Ltd, David Store Navigational Management Ltd and Princess Yachts, before arriving at Berthon as Production Manager for Berthon RIB Solutions.
Simon joins to ensure both the build quality of the legendary Gemini RIBS remains high as well as working closely with BHG Marine and their wide range of RIBs, powerboats and aluminium crafts. Bringing a wealth of expertise and knowledge to the table, as well as being an all-round maritime acolyte, Simon is a valuable addition to the Berthon family and we are thrilled to welcome him on board.
