July 27, 2018
Earlier this week Berthon received a very unusual delivery to be launched…four 4 person, sea-going aluminium pedalos, for the 2018 Pedalo World Championships.
After holding two events in 2017, the first pedalo circumnavigation of the Isle of Wight along with gaining the Guinness World Record for 100m on a pedalo, Watermark Event Management have decided to continue their very successful fundraising efforts for WetWheels by organising the inaugural Pedalo World Championship. This will be held at Kings Manor Reach on the River Yar in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, on Sunday 29th July 2018.
For those of you who don’t know WetWheels give disabled people the opportunity to go on the water on a 9 metre catamaran powerboat, built by Cheetah Marine on the IOW, and experience the enjoyment of being at sea in a safe environment.
The race will be made up of 16 four person teams, to race their four pedalos in a series of four heats over a 200m course with the first two crews in each heat going through to a semi- final and the first two crews in each semi-final reaching the final. The winning team will then be awarded the title of Pedalo World Champions and holders of the soon be sought-after “Claret Jug”
If you would like to enter as a company, a club or as an individual raising a team please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 07802 678591 for further details or to obtain an entry form.
A minimum donation of £500.00 per team is required by way of entry fee although teams or corporate sponsors are encouraged to dig deep in support of this excellent cause. A sponsorship pack will also be supplied to assist in fundraising if required.
Lunch, drinks and entertainment will be available on the day. All supporters and spectators are welcome but will be asked to make a donation, part of which will contribute towards lunch and a welcome drink.
