With just two owners since new, the current of which having owned her since almost new, NYABO has always benefitted from a loving, attentive and open-wallet ownership. The Contest 46/48 differing from the earlier Contest 46’s by having the sugar-scoop stern found on the later Contest 48CS, she is also very difficult to age from outward glance, something which make her rather good value.
On the subject of value with an asking price of just £169,500, she offers all of the legendary Contest build quality, with three accommodation cabins and some rather expensive recent updates including replacement 15mm teak decks, shiny new Awlgrip topsides, uprated Onan generator, replacement standing rigging and recent working sails. Fully-fitted out for warm climate and longer distance cruising with such niceties as watermaker and air-con, she is one of those yachts that you just know will take you anywhere you wish to go with minimal fuss or discomfort, which surely is the whole point of yachting. For those wondering where the name originates, NYABO means ‘Fine Lady’ in Uganda.
