CANICHER is a proper little Dutch ship. Her owner originally bought a Grand Banks to learn about motor yachting and with that experience commissioned the build of CANICHER. He wanted a yacht that was suitable for explorer yachting, so safe in a seaway, providing a good stable platform and with good deck space for family use and a generous main saloon. It was also important to have comfortable sleeping accommodation for the family. Her engine room and fit out was also designed for easy maintenance. CANICHER has proved herself to be an excellent long distance family cruising yacht and has been professionally maintained through life. She is now being offered for sale after a pitstop at Berthon Boat Company including new paint, to ensure that she is in tiptop condition for her new owners.
A truly exceptional one off vessel designed for ocean crossings with a minimum of fuss and a maximum of comfort. Built by Altena, she is CE class A overall and Bureau Veritas below the waterline. The design adheres to key passagemaker ratios. Her hull is closely framed with 6mm steel below the waterline, 5mm above and a 15mm plate running the full length of her keel. She is designed to take green water on deck and knock downs with a vanishing angle of stability of 120 degrees. She is stabilised and she has redundancy on all systems. She was launched in 1998, finished in 2004, and has been meticulously maintained under the continuous supervision of a surveyor.
