Truly a cherished member of the family the yacht has enjoyed very good ownership for the last 18 years. 2012 the yacht had a major birthday and underwent a significant refit the highlights of which are summarized below:
Reviews of the COCO refit in Baltic Newsletter (PDF) are available upon request as is some great video footage of her Arc crossing.
The Baltic 52 “CoCo” was built by Baltic Yachts in Finland in 1990 to a Sparkman & Stephens design. The same designers are responsible for two other Baltic models from the same era, the Baltic 64 and the Baltic 58. These yachts represented something completely new at the time, following the scrapping of the IOR rule in favor of IMS. Now yachts could be competitive on the race course, even if designed and constructed as GOOD BOATS. It has always been known that displacement, stability, balance (also at heel), long water lines, weight concentration etc. is important when creating safe, fast and easily maneuvered sailing yachts. Therefore, it was a great relief when these features no longer were «punished» by racing rules. The Baltic 52 therefore became a very successful design both esthetically and from a performance point of view. And since the wind and the sea will stay the same, so will the joy of sailing her. In short, timeless. “CoCo” is a very well maintained and upgraded example of the Baltic 52, fully equipped for long passages and with all comforts needed for family cruising.
