The Discovery 58 is a world class cruising yacht built in the UK to stunning designs from Ron Holland. AQUALUNA was the first of the sisterhood to splash. Her owners previously owned a Discovery 55 which they had sailed extensively including through the Pacific to New Zealand. Her specification reflects their bluewater experience and also their knowledge of Discovery. They chose a single steering position in the spacious cockpit and a fully battened mainsail for easy, powerful sailing and good control. Down below her maple interior provides a very light and airy place to spend time, and the signature Discovery deck saloon and large hull windows means that light floods in. In common with other Discoverys she has a fantastic chart table which is elevated, making internal watch keeping a reality.
AQUALUNA has been a great success, cruising in the Mediterranean before crossing the Atlantic with the ARC. She has enjoyed great cruising in the Caribbean. Sadly, her owners’ plans have now changed, so they won’t undertake the World cruise that was originally planned for the yacht. As she has long legs and great potential, they did not want to waste this on local warm water sailing and hence she is now being offered for sale.
She is a stunning looking yacht, which has been carefully maintained and which has proved herself to be the perfect size for a couple to sail long distance aboard. Of course, with a volume that is around 45% greater than the Discovery 55, she also offers lots of space for guests.
AQUALUNA is our second Discovery and the first of the Discovery 58s. We wanted a reliable bluewater cruising specification and worked with the Discovery Shipyard to deliver on this. We have been very happy with our Discovery magic carpet, she has carried us far in great comfort. Now that we will not be undertaking our world cruise it is time for AQUALUNA to find new owners who will use her to her potential. We hope that they will be as happy with her as we have been and that they too will experience the joy of blue water cruising aboard her.
