NAMAQUA was custom built in 2000 for her first owners by the highly reputable yard Southampton Yacht Services, and was put together by the same team that build Oysters and refit giants such as the infamous ‘Velsheda’. Beautiful in every sense and based on the German Frers designed hull often seen with the Mystic 60 badge. Equipped and maintained without sparing expense by her 3 owners. She is looking forward to stretching her powerful legs under a new ownership.
At the end of July 2019 she has been sailed from Cork to Lymington without fault and has been kitted out and is ready to go. No expense has been spared in her maintenance. She is a very special yacht and has to be seen to be fully appreciated. From the owner who built her to the current reluctant seller she has been loved and cherished.
We bought her in Largs Scotland in 2012 after she had a 60k refit in DDZ Marine. We sailed her to St Katherine’s dock, London, where I lived on her during the week for 3 years. Following cruises to France, Belgium and Cornwall, she made two passages to Foxes in Ipswich in year 3, where she had a major refit and replacement of essential bluewater cruising kit. All work was based on a full above and below waterline survey. Total cost for work carried out in London and Ipswich was 161K. Under the project management of Simon Davies (part of build crew in 2000 at SYS).
In 2016 we sailed her to Crosshaven Co Cork and cruised her in SW Ireland. Lovingly looked after by the team at Royal Cork Yacht Club she will be delivered to Berthon in July to await a new owner. She will be missed.
Note: There is a comprehensive audit trail of all work done on the boat from 2007, including work by DDZ and Foxes. Work carried out in the last 3 years can be obtained from the Marina manager at RCYC, Crosshaven.
