DIRECT FERRY is a yacht that we know well. She was built with a very high specification and was also brought up to MCA Category 2 coding as it was the original intention to charter the yacht. In fact, she has never been chartered and has been used for local, family use only. She has been carefully maintained and updated through life. The Island Packet 465 is a substantial and capable blue water cruising yacht that is easy to sail and with superb interior volume. DIRECT FERRY has a small blue livery and gleams.
DIRECT FERRY continues to be beautifully maintained and this season has seen the sails laundered and new battens fitted. There is also a new mainsheet traveller. The staysail running rigging is also new and all the pumps have been overhauled with new seals and diaphragms as needed. The air conditioning has also been fully serviced and the external varnish refreshed. She will continue to be maintained to this level.
I had DIRECT FERRY built and wanted to be sure that she was fully equipped for Mediterranean sailing for my family and myself. We coded her to MCA requirements but in the end we decided not to go the charter route – she is too nice a yacht! With her smart blue livery and handmade joinery, she is a joy to be aboard. We have enjoyed her hugely although we have only used her locally. She is easy to manage shorthanded.
Superb comfortable and safe go anywhere boat which stays the course when the wind rises and others head for nearest port – ideal for Med or Atlantic cruising.
