SILKEN TIES was purchased new from us by her current owner, to replace his former Swan 46. For the first few summers it was based in Jamestown RI, and sailed in the summer only. In recent years she has done a winter trip to the western Caribbean and Cuba, and then back to New England. This winter she has just completed a cruise to the Bahamas.
SILKEN TIES had many upgrades at commissioning including electrifying the cabin top winches, and in the last couple of years all the sails and canvas have been replaced.
The Moody 45AC is a wonderful sailing boat, easy to handle with a bow thruster, self-tacking jib and in mast furling. The hull design is a development of the Judel / Vrolijk designed Hanse 440, which is also a great sailing boat.
Socially, the twin wheel cockpit is large, comfortable, with deep and secure coamings and has a drop down bathing platform. The front is protected by a fixed stainless windscreen. Below, the three stateroom plus saloon layout in teak has two heads, a stall shower, and electric heads.
These boats are rare in the US, and Silken Ties is attractively priced, as the owner has ordered a new boat.
