Originally built by Windboats (the famed Oyster builders), her specification and fit out surpassed that of many of her sister ships she was commissioned specifically as boat show example. She was purchased shortly after build by the current owner. The attention to detail throughout is superb. She wants for nothing by way of inventory, being fully equipped with generator, heating, air-conditioning, water maker, comprehensive electronics and recent sails. Presented in top notch condition the yacht has cruised locally, as far south as Spain and as north as Sweden in her current ownership and enjoyed superb care and maintenance along the way. Wintered ashore annually under a full winter cover with all systems serviced and winterized.
“My Wife and I bought our first Oyster in 2007. It was a 45 and we sailed from Lymington to Portugal through the Mediterranean and back. We enjoyed the sailing and the Oyster community with regattas in Cowes, Palma and Sardinia. When we decided we wanted a new boat we wanted it better equipped but not larger as mid forties was ideal for the two of us and enough to entertain and sail with friends.
The Oyster 46 is a faster and more powerful boat but it is also one of the most beautiful Oyster models. Astraeus was built as a special project by Windboats with no client in mind. It is an upgraded and highly specified 46 which was designed to demonstrate what a 46 could be. From its detailed inlaid joinery to it 24 volt electrics and a miríad of other upgrades it is a unique Oyster 46.
It was used for 18 months as the Oyster “show boat” and we bought it at the London Boat Show in 2012. We cruised it along the south coast, Brittany, Normandy and the Channel Islands. We also cruised the Baltic in 2018 and it has been an ideal size for these waters.
Unfortunately for health reasons we must say goodbye to sailing for the moment and our beautiful Astraeus. We wish the new owners the same pride and joy in the wonderful boat and happy sailing.”
