A handsome, well-constructed and fitted out yacht. We know Bhootan well having sold her to the current owners back in 2015. Having stopped for a comprehensive Berthon pit stop in 2015 including rig, systems, fuel tanks cleaned, engine deep service she then cruised the south coast for a season before heading off to the sunnier climes of Palma. Having thoroughly enjoyed this foray into yachting the owner has decided to sell Bhootan to make way for a larger replacement.
Having started her life as ALAKUSH, she was acquired by Jennifer Guinness, one of the most accomplished Irish sailors of her generation. After a lifetime of quality yachts, Jennifer chose this Sabre 426 as her final yacht — no doubt due to her high quality and powerful cruising performance.
Having grown up in Annapolis, MD splitting my time between racing and cruising, I always held a special affection for Sabre yachts. Upon relocating to London and hearing of ALAKUSH wintering in a boat shed in Scotland it was impossible not to pay a visit and finally purchase in 2015.
Renaming the yacht BHOOTAN, I invested in a series of upgrades and spent the first season exploring the Solent including some more adventurous sailing to the West Country and France. For the next two seasons (2016, 2017) I relocated BHOOTAN to Palma for some warmer climate sailing where I thoroughly enjoyed cruising the Balearic Isles.
Whether driving hard into high winds or slipping downwind in light air, BHOOTAN has proved an extremely well rounded yacht. With her handsome lines and quality build, the compliments have been frequent. Usage has been light with occasional weekend and holiday usage and she has always been professionally maintained.
After three years seasons of enjoyment I am begrudgingly putting her on the market to allow for a larger yacht.
