Project Coordinator

Berthon Boat Co Ltd is a family business located in the desirable town of Lymington between the Solent and the New Forest. Amongst a diverse range of activities, Berthon undertakes a number of new construction, rebuild and refit projects in both the commercial and yacht sectors. Reports to:

Senior Project Manager

Main Purpose:

Providing a key project support role within the Berthon project office.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Working as part of a team, providing effective organisational, scheduling, costing and administrative support to the project managers, helping to ensure the successful and efficient delivery of a wide range of projects.

 Typical duties would include the following:

  • Establishing and maintaining project documentation and filing systems (paper & electronic).
  • Reviewing project progress, maintaining records, and producing progress reports.
  • Preparation of project estimates and task documentation, submitting to client and logging authorisation status.
  • Preparation of stage payments and invoices, submission of claims for payment and following up payment.
  • Arranging meetings, organising facilities and support resources, recording minutes, and following up action points.
  • Dealing with telephone and email enquiries.
  • Word processing and composing project correspondence.
  • Assisting with project tender process and day to day running.
  • Assisting with negotiating and placing orders for components and services with suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Sourcing and procurement of materials and services, expediting of orders and management of suppliers and/or contractors as required.

In addition to the above, further duties as may be determined for the effective and efficient running of the company.

Skills & Abilities


  • Effective verbal and written communicator.
  • High levels of computer literacy.
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Flexibility and ability to identify support requirements.
  • Able to use own initiative and work unsupervised.


  • Knowledge of marine terminology.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary based on experience and skills.
  • Full time, with options for flexible working.
  • 33 days holiday per annum, including bank holidays.
