Berthon Boat Company has provided marine services for decades. Berthon works successfully with Government and commercial partners to provide boatbuilding, refits, maintenance and in-service support for clients such as the RNLI, Ministry of Defence (MoD), UK Border Force, Port Authorities and commercial boat operators.
Berthon fully understands the demands placed on government and commercially operated boats and has an experienced team of marine project managers and engineers that oversee all boat building, repair, refit and marine engineering work. We employ over 100 skilled craftsmen including marine engineers, electricians, riggers, painters, joiners, shipwrights and apprentices, who work at our modern shipyard facilities in Lymington, Hampshire. We are one of the few shipyards in the UK able to deliver to our clients an end-to-end service.
Berthon repairs, refits and builds boats that are used around the world in a diverse range of roles for both public & private sector clients. Berthon’s boatyard forms part of the 40,468 sq/m site, which includes engineering workshops, spotlessly clean undercover heated sheds, paint booths and boat moving equipment. With direct access to the Solent and the English Channel, sea trials can be undertaken in both sheltered or open waters, at all states of tide.

Today our boatbuilding sectors include search and rescue, pilotage, patrol, defence, survey, windfarm and hydrographic survey. From a complete design and build of a series of boats, to a system fit out and engine installation of a bespoke prototype, Berthon’s Boat building team can design and deliver a package to meet your requirements.
Berthon Boat Company has been building boats since 1877. In recent years, Berthon has built 38 all weather, self-righting lifeboats for the RNLI, along with a number of pilot, patrol and survey vessels for other commercial workboat clients. Using the experience gained in these demanding environments, Berthon has developed a range of designs to provide unrivalled sea keeping ability to meet any current requirement.
