Berthon’s Marina is located at one of the most stunning and easily accessible locations on the south coast with 300 deepwater berths for RIBs, sailing yachts, and motorboats up to 45m (150ft) barely ten minutes up the river from the Solent waters. The team who run it truly are a fundamental cog in the machine. John, Gary, Sammy, Ben, Marcus, Millie and Julian all live locally so you’ll understand why they really are the best for any enquiries or questions you may have about the marina, Lymington and the surrounding New Forest. With their various backgrounds, ranging from RNLI crew to Berthon yacht refit manager, they may also be of some service if you have a problem on board. Just ask.

John, Marina Manager
John is born and bred Lymington, he’s a regular on the Lymington River and is happiest when afloat either cruising or racing on the family folkboat. After enjoying many years working around the globe on specialised marine projects, it was time to spend more time in Lymington. John has a passion for water safety and has been involved at the Lymington RNLI station for over 16 years.
Having always worked in the maritime hospitality sector John has an eye for detail, and always focuses on a customer centric approach. He looks forward to welcoming you to the marina.
Gary, Senior Dockmaster
Gary joined Berthon as part of the valeting team and is now a Senior Dockmaster. Gary’s background in the motor industry as a General Sales Manager means that his customer service skills are second to none. Gary is keen to continue working on his Marine knowledge undertaking various RYA courses.
Sammy, Dockmaster
Having transitioned from his role as seasonal boatman at the Royal Lymington Yacht Club, Sammy has proven his dedication to the sea. In his free time, he continues his passion for boating through on the water volunteer work, as well as being a powerboat and dinghy instructor.
Julian, Dockmaster
Berthon’s recent addition to the team, Julian, will be joining us this season as a Dockmaster. Commuting via RIB from the Isle of Wight, Julian infuses the marina with vibrant energy, eagerly assisting throughout the summer. With a passion for sailing and classic cars, he is often found tinkering with his beloved old 911. Coming from an engineering background, Julian’s hands-on approach will be appreciated throughout the marina.
Ben, Dockmaster
Introducing Ben, Berthon’s newest permanent Dockmaster. Ben’s journey into the maritime industry began with a season as a deckhand on two 50-meter superyachts, sparking his passion for the sea. He further honed his skills by completing his deck cadetship at Warsash Maritime Academy before transitioning ashore to delve deeper into the marine trade.
Marcus, Dockmaster
Marcus has been a commercial offshore diver for over 15 years and has spent 20 years as commercial pilot. Transitioning back to the marine industry, he’s now a Dockmaster at Berthon, relocating to the New Forest with his wife. Their love for the Solent drew them to the area, where they now call home. With a wealth of experience spanning both air and sea, Marcus brings a unique skill set to his role.
