Berthon’s Marina is located at one of the most stunning and easily accessible locations on the south coast with 300 deepwater berths for RIBs, sailing yachts, and motorboats up to 45m (150ft) barely ten minutes up the river from the Solent waters. The team who run it truly are a fundamental cog in the machine. John, Gary, Phil, and Jamie all live locally so you’ll understand why they really are the best for any enquiries or questions you may have about the marina, Lymington and the surrounding New Forest. With their various backgrounds, ranging from RNLI crew to Berthon yacht refit manager, they may also be of some service if you have a problem on board. Just ask.

John, Marina Manager
John is born and bred Lymington, he’s a regular on the Lymington River and is happiest when afloat either cruising or racing on the family folkboat. After enjoying many years working around the globe on specialised marine projects, it was time to spend more time in Lymington. John has a passion for water safety and has been involved at the Lymington RNLI station for over 16 years.
Having always worked in the maritime hospitality sector John has an eye for detail, and always focuses on a customer centric approach. He looks forward to welcoming you to the marina.
Gary, Senior Dockmaster
Gary joined Berthon as part of the valeting team and is now a Senior Dockmaster. Gary’s background in the motor industry as a General Sales Manager means that his customer service skills are second to none. Gary is keen to continue working on his Marine knowledge undertaking various RYA courses.
Phil, Dockmaster
Phil has worked at Berthon for two years, having previously been part of the BHG team, he is now enjoying having increased customer interaction as one of our fantastic dockmasters. In his younger years, Phil sailed with the Ocean Youth Club and Mountbatten Sea Training Venture.
Jamie, Dockmaster
Jamie is one of our junior Dockmasters, having relocated from London last year with his Mum. He was in property maintenance, but fell in love with the New Forest and being by the sea after visiting. He is a football enthusiast and former semi-pro with Cheshunt. He stays active through running, prioritising his mental and physical well-being. We are sure being a Dockmaster will keep him on his toes.
Sammy, Dockmaster
Sammy, our new Dockmaster is the most recent addition to the team. Having transitioned from his role as seasonal boatman at the Royal Lymington Yacht Club, he’s proven his dedication to the sea. In his free time, he continues his passion for boating through on the water volunteer work, as well as being a powerboat and dinghy instructor.
