Berthon has a position available for a boatmover to join our small and friendly team, dealing with boat movements for both internal and external customers.

Knowledge and skills

Ideally the successful candidate will already be experienced and qualified in a boat moving role at a marina, with a proven track record of using various boatmoving equipment, launches and plant as well as evidence of formal training on a variety of lifting equipment.

A pro-active practical approach and can do attitude is essential to this fast moving role as well as the ability to undertake various challenging manual handling activities both ashore and on the water in a safe and effective manner.  You will be a team player who is fully conversant with the Health & Safety requirements of LOLER and work on or near water and other essentials.

Main Duties and responsibilities

Set up and use of boat moving equipment and ancillaries including the following:

• 75T Marine Travelift x2
• 45T Abi boat trailer
• 38T Roodberg boat trailer
• 20T Roodberg static Crane
• Hiab Crane
• Forklift
• Telehandler
• Tractor
• Tractor crane

Collection and return of boats by towing with yard launch.

Lift & launch

Take photographic records

Report any problems found to manager

Pressure washing of hulls

Blocking off ashore

General care/maintenance of machinery

General care/maintenance of yard launches, Storage of shores/blocks/slithers/cradles

Cradle maintenance and records

Checking shores/cradles before and after heavy weather

Keep gantries, lift pads, docks and yard tidy
