The Role

Berthon are searching for determined individuals with experience in safe rigging practices and procedures to join our highly skilled workforce working on a wide variety of vessels on our marina and in our modern facilities. This is a highly responsible position that requires high attention to detail, safety, efficiency, and the ability to multitask in a busy marina environment.

Requirements

  • Excellent working knowledge of running and standing rigging
  • Rig Tuning
  • Swaging
  • Splicing and ropework
  • Mast stepping and un-stepping using a variety of lifting tackle and cranes
  • A good head for heights
  • Sailing experience
  • Boat handling experience
  • Ability to work unsupervised to exacting standards
  • Be motivated
  • Reliable
  • Have a good eye for detail to produce top quality work
  • Proven industry track record.
  • A good communicator able to work in a small close knit team.

The following attributes are desirable but not essential for this role:

  • Fabricating in S/S and aluminium
  • Knowledge of hydraulics

Responsibilities

  • Following up enquiries from customers
  • Pursuing sales leads
  • Fault finding and defect reports
  • Annual maintenance for yacht owners
  • Liaising withcomponent manufacturers regarding specifications
  • Viewing boats to draw up technical specification
  • Costing labour and materials
  • Quoting customers
  • Following up customers after quoting
  • Obtaining signed orders & deposit payments
  • Raising job instructions
  • Scheduling work
  • Managing labour, materials & sub-contractors
  • Technical support of skilled yacht riggers
  • Training and support of apprentices
  • Sea trials and rig tuning
  • Invoicing & the collection of payment
  • Cross-selling of other company services
  • Continuing service and maintenance
